There are different categories of AI, each designed to perform a variety of tasks. The two most significant types of AI include:
Narrow AI (Weak AI): This type of AI is designed to perform a specific task or a set of tasks. Examples include voice assistants like Siri or Alexa, and image recognition software.
General AI (Strong AI): This theoretical form of AI would possess the ability to perform any intellectual task a human can do. It is still in the research phase and is not yet a reality.
AI can also be classified based on its level of learning and adaptation:
Reactive Machines: These AI systems react to specific stimuli but don't have memory or the ability to learn from past experiences (e.g., IBM’s Deep Blue chess-playing system).
Limited Memory: AI systems that can learn from past experiences and improve their performance over time (e.g., self-driving cars).
Theory of Mind: A more advanced AI concept that involves understanding human emotions and thoughts.
Self-aware AI: A hypothetical form of AI that has its own consciousness and self-awareness (currently fictional).
